Proposal for a management model for the export of natural coffee in the native communities of the jurisdiction of Lamas, Peru

We designed a management prototype to promote the export of natural coffee from the native communities of Lamas in San Martín. We conducted a descriptive-projective, non-experimental, and cross-sectional study, encompassing 14 producer associations and export experts; we implemented surveys and interviews using questionnaires and guides. The results showed that the certifications for coffee export were evenly split between medium and low levels (50% each). We found that the economic efficiency of the producers was 42.9% at a medium level and 57.1% at a low level, while government intervention stood at 57.1% medium level and 42.9% low level. We concluded that, although certifications provided benefits in terms of preservation and government support, they did not translate into an economic boost for the coffee growers. In response, we introduced a segmented managerial model, with which we assessed the producers and determined the best export strategy for the international market.
